In 1991, in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi where signs of approaching civil war are felt and occasional gunshots heard in the streets, Maia brings up her two boys, Giorgi and Datuna, who are very close to each other. With his chance for higher education hindered by the war, the elder Giorgi finds himself going down the wrong path, while his 10-year-old brother, talented and studying to be a pianist, is the pride and joy of him and his mother. But, following an incident, the younger brother no longer plays the piano. This moving story excellently portrays the brotherly love of a boy towards his younger sibling, with the war-torn Georgia providing a disturbing backdrop.
