Name of the Event
- Aichi International Women’s Film Festival 2024
Objective
- To support the advancement of women in society and to promote awareness of gender equality and international exchange, we show works of female directors and invite world-famous female artists in the film world as well as hold discussions, symposiums, and seminars which will provide opportunities for participants to exchange their opinions.
Event Information
- Have the 29 th edition in 2024 (the 1st edition dates back to 1996), the only film festival in Japan specified for female directors
- Select mainly films of female directors from all over the world
- Hold various events for communication between artists and audience
- Hold seminars or symposiums related to presented films for the sake of promoting awareness of gender equality
- Provide a voice guide for spectators with a visual disability in cooperation with some NPOs (2003-)
- Have a competition of designing posters and fliers (2012-)
- Hold a film completion (2012-) divided into two sections (Live Action and Animation) (2019-)
- Screen films at Midland Square Cinema (satellite venue) in addition to the main venue, Will Aichi (2017-)

Screening of Films (Tentative)
Films are screened among which are shown for the first time in Japan and are directed by world-famous female directors. As a related program, high quality Japanese films are also projected with the theme centered on women.
Guests (Tentative)
World-famous female film directors and Japanese female film directors are invited, and guest talks are held.

- Presented films: Japanese and foreign films among which female directors’ works are preferred.
- Tickets: 1,000 yen (advance ticket); 1,300 yen (adults); 600 yen (children, students and adults with disabilities) *Same applies to Midland Square Cinema
- Invited directors: 4 persons (Japan); 2 persons (other countries) (non-definitive)
- Special invited guests: 4 directors or actors/actresses (non-definitive)
- Teach-in: Talk events of invited directors and others
- Symposium with invited directors as panelists
- Film competition for female directors (Live Action/Animation/Documentary)
