Story
Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany. On the outskirts of the port city lies the ruins of the Neuengamme concentration camp. It was one of the many concentration camps set up by Nazi Germany in 1938, the year before the Second World War. On 28 November 1944, 20 children from the Auschwitz concentration camp were sent to Neuengamme. Ten boys and ten girls, aged between five and twelve, were orphaned in the camps or were brought to the camps after being separated from their families. They were all Jewish children, born in different countries. They were recruited for a series of unspeakable "tuberculosis experiments". Twenty children suffered a cruel wartime fate and the people of Germany and Europe are confronted with their deaths. This is a feature-length documentary that quietly portrays the modest activities of their hearts.
