In 16th-century feudal Japan, inhabitants of a rural village tremble with fear at the impending onslaught of warriors-turned-bandits. In a bid to defend the village, they decide to hire samurai warriors themselves. Seven masterless samurai are found and hired, and, together with the farmers, they rise against the bandits. A great masterpiece of Japanese cinema directed by Akira Kurosawa.
