About the Competition

We are accepting short films which are directed by women, in all genres, with no career or age restrictions.The finalists will be screened at AIWFF2012 in September.There will be additional prizes for the winners.We’re keen to see entries from all across the world!

Entry Requirements

  • The director of the film must be female.
  • Running time: 10～40 minutes
  • Must be films completed after 1st April, 2010.
  • Films of any genre and any theme are accepted.
  • Entries to be submitted by DVD-Video (NTSC).
  • DV-Cam, DVD-Video or Blu-ray Disc is eligible as screening materials.
  • Must be films with Japanese subtitles or dubbed in to Japanese if the original language of the film is not Japanese.
  • Films must not be in breach of any copyright, including music or sound contained in your entry.
  • No entry fees are required
  • Please note in advance, the Festival’s organizers may make a copy of DVD screeners for review.

Entry for Pre-Selection

  • The applicants of pre-selection must fill out the entry form available on https://www.aiwff.com and send/bring it together with your DVD screener to the following address no later than 13 July 2012:

  • All the submitted documents and materials will not be returned.
  • All expenses for the shipping of materials to AIWFF must be borne by applicants.

Jury and Prizes

  • Ten finalists selected for screening at AIWFF2012 will be notified via e-mail by mid August 2012.
  • The result of Pre-Selection will be announced through website of the Festival as well.
  • During the festival, AIWFF will award the following prizes in accordance with the decision of the Competition Jury:
    －Grand Prize
    The winner will be given the cash prize of 150,000 JPY.
    －Runner-up Award
    Two runners-up will receive 50,000 JPY respectively.
